The girls enjoyed working with text to think further about their own identities and their intrigue about their correspondence partners in Finland.
We talked about artists and graphic designers who use text in their work, and looked at some examples. We discussed typography and different fonts and the girls enjoyed experimenting with lettreset letter transfer and stencils. We played with integrating text and visuals together and they added words to archival images and postcards.
The girls also ‘illuminated’ some words that they thought described themselves as well as qualities they look for in new friends.
