During the video call with the Little Owls, Ofurhetjuhópur were amazed to see that their artworks were exhibited on a wall of their kindergarten classroom amongst others images from Iceland. From that fact, plus all the artworks that they received themselves from Prague, we talked about how our actions have consequences, how, without knowing it sometimes, we can influence the life of others and vice versa. We did not talked about it as deeply as it was proposed in your guide, Arlene, but we managed to approach and reflect about the theme of the 4th and last pathfinder nonetheless.
I then introduced them to the artwork of Louise Bourgeois, Maman (the spider sculpture), as suggested in your guide, and talked to them how we can also perceive differently the same subject, in that instance, a spider. I gave them paint and pastels and invited them to create an artwork representing what a spider means to them.
Once they were done, for those who wanted to continue, I introduced them to the artwork of Frida Khalo, What the Water Gave Me (the bathtub painting). At that point, even if they wanted to paint more, they were pretty much tired, so I simply had a conversation about what they could see. Before anything else, they noticed the volcano and most of them wanted to paint their own volcano as well.
Kindly,
