This time the Owls started their pathfinder with short discussion about things they remember about Sangsang jungle. They can now recognize a few things about South Korea they did not know before:
- There is a volcano in Jeju island!
- They like to eat oranges and mandarins.
- They have tasty cookies! Pororo is a fun superhero penguin.
Children also learnt the capital and flag of South Korea thanks to this wonderful art exchange and our new friends. Our driving question to start the art project was: What do we value in a friend? Children were full of ideas to describe good qualities in a friend but when we started looking at the collages we received from Sangsang jungle, we struggled to figure out how our friends might be like and we started talking about assumptions. For example, most girls in our group like blue over pink. Sometimes when it’s sunny outside it doesn’t mean it will be warm. Assumptions are very often wrong and the only thing we can do to get to know someone is by asking questions. We then took a look at the pictures/collages together and shared our thoughts, ideas and feelings on each art piece!
Questions came naturally. We started drawing the things that most draw our attention from the collage and started asking questions to our new friends. We later took a look at the pictures/collage we had received from South Korea and shared our thoughts, ideas and feelings on each art piece! Questions started coming quite naturally but children found it hard to picture how our Sansang jungle friends might be like just by looking at the art... Owls started recording their questions on the next day and many of them used their native language, so you can hear the sounds of the Tree House. (Our classroom)

The Owls from Little Mole
The 5-7 year old artists at Sang Sang Jungle in Jeju, Korea are making and sharing art with the 4-6 year old artists at The Little Mole International Preschool in Prague, Czech Republic. Their new friendship will blossom through creativity!
